Estate Planning

Make your wishes clear

Planning for the future of your property after your death is an opportunity to help your family one last time. Even if you do not have a high net worth, estate planning now can save your family from many problems later. It also ensures that your assets are distributed according to your wishes. If you do not want your property passing according to intestacy laws, we can assist you. At the law office of William Bachrach, we have helped many people plan their estates. We work closely with our clients to tailor their plan to fit their specific needs. To learn more about how we can help you, contact William Bachrach to talk to an experienced estate planning attorney.

Basic Estate Planning

There are a few basic documents that are very important to have. A Living Trust gives instructions on how to disperse your assets and pay your debts. You may establish it while you are still living. A trust also enables you to minimize your estate taxes and keep your estate out of the public record.

It also makes sense to have two powers of attorney. A general durable power of attorney designates someone to make financial decisions on your behalf. A healthcare directive includes a medical power of attorney and a living will. The healthcare POA gives another person the right to make health care decisions on your behalf. A living will leaves instructions for your loved ones in the event that you fall into a permanent vegetative state.

In addition, you should consider a pour-over will. A pour over will ensures that your assets will automatically go (or "pour over") into the trust when you pass away.

At the law office of William Bachrach, we can help you construct an estate plan according to your wishes.

Advanced Estate Planning

Some people need additional documents for their specific needs. We can help you establish

  • A charitable remainder trust

  • A qualified personal residence trust (QPERT)

  • Revocable or irrevocable trusts

  • Education trusts

We have the skill and knowledge necessary to meet your estate planning needs. To discuss your estate planning needs in more detail, contact our office. We would be happy to discuss your options under probate law.
